2015 is the centenary year of the amazing footballing legend, Sir Stanley Matthews. To commemorate the100th anniversary of his birth we presented here a centenary tribute version of our film THANK YOU STAN - for 24 hours, on the actually day, February 1st 2015. Yet so popular was this tribute film - and so many people wrote to tell us that they couldn't see it on that day - that we held it over for another week. Now we have removed it so the various film festivals that are screening the full film around the world can show it without our online spoiler. We are delighted to see however that the Football Association are continuing to keep a centenary article about Sir Stan on their website - with a link to our tribute film at the bottom of that article. Therefore, anyone wishing to see our special edit of THANK YOU STAN should visit the page via this link.
Long before this era where media, marketing and publicity agents manufacture big stars from mediocrity, Sir Stanley Matthews was a true legend in his lifetime. Adored around the world, Sir Stan was a true star who could add 10,000 fans to the attendance of any game he played in - even though he never courted publicity for himself. Indeed, there was much more to STAN and his life than most people knew.
Old enough to remember the latter years of Stan's career, BAFTA Award-winning animator, Tony White, has created here a short, heartfelt docu-mation tribute to the great man - in celebration of the 100th centenary of Sir Stan's birth on February 1st 2015. Inspired by the books of Geoff Francis, Tony's work also celebrates the artform of traditional, hand-drawn animation in a new, refreshing and entirely unique informational way.
